What is the fritillary?
It is a species of plant originating from Asia, of which the most remarkable for its therapeutic action is Thunberg fritillary (fritillaria thunbergii).
The flowers in bell of this last are of yellow color, sprinkled with purple spots.
Its bulb is rich in :
- Alkaloids: especially verticine and veratramine.
- Saponic heterosides: especially prosapogenin B and fritilarein.
- Flavonoids: especially kaempferol, quercetin and isorhamnetin.
- Amino acids: especially aspartic acid, glutamic acid, arginine, glycine and lysine.
How to use it?
In Chinese herbal shops, the bulbs are sold dried and cut into slices.
It is advisable to boil some slices gently in water for 20 to 30 minutes, without raising the temperature too much. Indeed, at 140°C / 285 °F some chemical compounds degrade. The recovered juice is then drunk. The boiled pieces are sometimes eaten.
The medicinal properties of Thunberg fritillary combine well with those of lavender.
It is particularly appreciated by the skin, the cosmic chakra and the inner ear.
