The infallible test that reveals everything! 😄
What is the cube test?
It’s a personality test popular for its effectiveness, invented in the 16th century by a Persian mystic.
A book has been written on the subject by Annie Gottlieb – The Cube: keep the secret.
It’s best to take the test before knowing what it means.
The test is fun to do with friends.

The test
There’s no logic in this type of tests, no need to think, just visualize.
The first image is the right one, the one that comes from the unconscious mind.
🧊 The cube
Imagine a desert. Add a cube in the desert.
- What color is it?
- Is it on the sand?
- What material is it made of?
- How big is it?
- How far away is it?
- What’s inside it?
📏 The ladder
In the desert, in addition to the cube, add a ladder.
- Where is it in relation to the cube?
- How big is it?
- What material is it made of?
- Approximately how many steps on the ladder?
- Is it solid?
🐎 The horse
In the desert, in addition to the cube and ladder, add a horse.
- Where is it in relation to the other elements?
- What color is it? Describe it.
- How big is it in relation to the cube?
- What is its personality (at least 3 adjectives)?
- Where does it look?
⛈️ The storm
Add a storm too.
- Where is it located?
- What impact does it have on the elements (cube, ladder, horse)?
🌼 The flowers
Finally, put some flowers.
- Where are they?
- How many are there?
- What colors?

The meaning of the cube test
I’ve always regretted knowing the results of this psychological test before taking it. However, when I close my eyes, I can more or less visualize the elements. Each time it’s different, because the cube test corresponds to the here and now.
Cube
The cube is you:
- What we see on the outside of the cube is what you show to others.
- What’s inside the cube is what’s inside you.
The color of the cube represents your personality:
- Yellow: optimistic.
- Red: ruled by your emotions.
- Green: close to nature.
- Transparent: you can’t lie about your personality, others can see right through you.
- Other colors are more difficult to analyze.
A completed Rubik’s Cube means that the person will think and rethink until every problem is solved. An unsorted Rubik’s Cube means that he/she has many facets to his/her personality.
The size of the cube corresponds to the size of your ego:
- If it’s bigger than your height: you want to prove yourself to others in order to be loved.
- If it’s smaller: you don’t dare express all your qualities.
Some people have cubes the size of dice. A friend of mine, with an oversized ego, had a cube 200 meters high.
The material can have multiple explanations, to be seen on a case-by-case basis.
If the cube is on the sand, you’re a down-to-earth person. If the cube is partially buried, there’s a part of you you do not want to see.
If the cube is right in front of you, you’re not afraid to take center stage. If the cube is further away, you need a certain amount of privacy.
- If the cube is empty inside: a part of you feels empty.
- If it’s full: you’re strong.
- If you don’t know what’s inside: you don’t know what’s deep inside yourself.
A friend of mine had a beetle in her cube: it was her spirit animal, inviting her to an inner transformation.
Ladder
The ladder is friends or family, or a mixture of the 2. These are the important people in your life.
- A strong ladder means that you can count on those close to you in times of trouble.
- A broken or fragile ladder means you’ve had disappointments with some relatives, and you’re afraid to trust them again.
The number of steps corresponds roughly to the number of people who really matter to you.
If the ladder touches the cube: in case of difficulty, you’ll go straight to your friends or family.
If the ladder is far from the cube: there may be a physical distance between you and your loved ones; or you may be independent, and if you have a problem, you’ll try to solve it yourself first.
- If the ladder is the same size as the cube: you have an equal relationship with your loved ones.
- If the ladder is smaller than the cube: you’re dominant in your relationships.
- If the ladder is larger than the cube: you seek to surround yourself with inspiring people, who will help you to give the best of yourself (to climb to the top of the cube, to the summit of yourself).
The material can have several meanings, but usually, old wood means people you’ve known for a long time, and new wood means fairly recent friends.
Horse
The horse may correspond to :
- Your current partner.
- Someone you still have feelings for.
- Your ideal partner.
The size of the horse in relation to that of the cube generally corresponds to dominance in the couple.
The distance between the cube and the horse evokes proximity or distance between the 2 partners.
The color can represent skin tone or personality.
A stewardess can give a horse with wings. A friend of mine had a unicorn: she had lots of boyfriends but couldn’t find the right one. For her, the ideal man was imaginary, he didn’t exist.
Storm
The storm corresponds to problems in life:
- Storm here: troubled times now.
- Storm receding: problems in the past, now better.
- Storm approaching: stress about a deadline or situation.
- Storm passing in the distance: no major issues at present.
The storm’s impact on the elements reveals difficulties. If, for example, the horse runs away, there are troubles linked to your love life.
Flowers
Flowers are children.
If you don’t have children in your life right now, then the flowers are your projects (not necessarily child-related), which you think of as your babies.
With this test, I guessed that a girl was pregnant because she had a flower in her cube.
How does the cube test work?
It’s a projection of the unconscious mind.
Each person is different. If I give the test to another person, I’m providing him/her keys to self-understanding, but it’s up to him/her to find the exact meaning.
The cube test works every time, for everyone, unless I fail to understand the meaning.

Conclusion
What is the cube test?
It’s an entertaining and revealing personality test.
Most of the time, the results are astounding.
And what’s more, it’s great fun! This test is ideal for breaking the ice with a new acquaintance.
