Recipe for therapeutic homemade shampoo

My hair also has the right to choose its food. 😄

Why make my own shampoo?

Industrial shampoos contain many toxic ingredients for health.

They can damage the scalp, and cause symptoms, including hair loss.

By making my own shampoo, I can be sure of the quality of the constituents.

I can use my felt sense to find out which of the following ingredients are right for me, and in what quantities.

Recipe ingredients

It’s easy to make my therapeutic shampoo from a neutral shampoo base.

Then, all I have to do is add and mix the elements I have selected.

It’s a really simple recipe!

Clay

White, green or red clay has several therapeutic properties:

  • Absorb toxins and excess sebum.
  • Nourish with trace elements.
  • Regenerate.
  • Soothe.

Which essential oils?

By adding an essential oil, I can take advantage of the plant’s benefits:

  • Lemon.
  • Lavender.
  • Marjoram.
  • Juniper.
  • Lemon balm.
  • Eucalyptus.
  • Lemongrass.
  • Chamomile.
  • Rosemary.
  • Sandalwood.
  • Sage.

Medicinal plants

The idea behind DIY shampoos is that they repair and nourish my scalp.

It’s interesting to select plants that have these properties:

  • Ashwagandha.
  • Mulungu.
  • Baobab powder.
  • Neem.
  • Nettle.
  • Rosemary.
  • Bacopa.
  • Chamomile.
  • Horsetail.
  • Aloe vera gel.

Powder only (except for aloe vera), so I do not end up with bits of plant in my hair.

Honey

Adding honey to my therapeutic shampoo is:

  • Moisturizing.
  • Soothing.
  • Nourishing.

I’d better choose organic, artisanal honey. One teaspoon is enough.

Vegetable oils

I can use some mild vegetable oils, in moderate quantities, unless I have naturally greasy hair.

  • Sweet almond oil.
  • Jojoba oil.
  • Avocado oil.
  • Evening primrose oil.

Preservatives

Natural preservatives prevent the growth of bacteria in my homemade preparations:

  • Leucidal.
  • Vitamin E.
  • Grapefruit seed extract.
  • Naticide.
